The DC project has been assembled to tackle the very low rate of ICT penetration at local level, as the broad adoption of ICT services on a regional level is considered as a strong backbone for the development of local Information based societies.
The general objectives of the DC project include the development and evaluation of the DC Model (the organisational structures, strategies / policies and tools) and the establishment of an open, sustainable co-operation / co-ordination Network for sharing knowledge, exchanging best practices / experiences and developing synergies among local authorities.
The project — encompassing both partners with great experience on the adoption and promotion of such services as well as less advanced partners in ICT adoption — will contribute to the exchange, sharing and transfer of policy experience, knowledge and good practices on a European level through learning from the excellence of others.
The final outcome of the project is aimed to be a new organisational structure that will manage and evolve the project results, making them widely available through information services.
The DC proposal has been among the 42 proposals in the First Call of INTERREG IVC that were accepted out of 492 proposals submitted. Moreover, it is the only proposal in the sub-priority of ICT that was funded.
